Welcome
Please visit the Goodbye Sweet Onion page for a message of welcome and explanation from the New Owners.
So who are we? And what are we doing? And what the heck is the next-paradigm? Glad you asked. We are healers and nurturers, therapists and facilitators, artists and mystics and watchers of birds. We've counseled youth and consulted with corporations, produced a documentary and managed a restaurant, and we've sat with patients and clients and circles of souls seeking connection. We're staring right into the converging crises of climate and energy and environment and economy and asking ourselves and others: who shall we be in these uncertain times, and who shall we be together, and how can we move beyond the paradigm of control and domination that has brought us to this point? What's next? How will we live lightly on this planet? And how do we get from here to there? We're here to help. Our mission is to provide healthy, nurturing shelter and sustenance of all kinds for guests and staff, in ways that align with the most basic ecological principle: that we must give back more than we take. We'll manifest this mission through warm beds and nourishing, locally grown foods, conscious conversation and permaculture gardens, informative and enlightening gatherings and workshops and retreats. We're building a life based on cooperation and connection, on a reduced consumption of energy and stuff and an ever-increasing experience of community, and we invite you to come see us and learn what we're up to and share your lives with us. We are a bed & breakfast & more. We are a gathering place for those who want to live, learn, and teach skills, as well as develop the awareness and consciousness that returns people to lives of purpose and deep fulfillment, of service rather than exploitation. We will host gatherings of students and teachers of new paradigm living, offering workshops, retreats and circles on such topics as permaculture, yoga, activism, meditation, alternative healing, wild foods, communication and dialogue, restoration of natural systems, consciousness, dreams, natural building methods, renewable energy, and water conservation. We intend that our guests will leave us with a renewed sense of connection with themselves, their fellow humans, and the natural world, having rested and been well nourished, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
It is time to gather in, to "step away from the isolation", as Derrick Jensen says, and come together in new ways, with hearts open and minds ready to break free from the constraints of a culture that serves neither the planet nor us. This is what we're up to in Hancock, Vermont. We're taking steps into what's next. Beyond the current paradigm. Beyond business as usual. Down a path we've never walked before. We'd be happy to have you walk with us for a while. Peace, Tim Bennett, Kathleen Byrne, Sally Erickson, Carla Royal and Buttercup
